Balcony

Due to the fact that the weather has literally blossomed I’ve begun spending as much
time as possible on my balcony. Last night I sat on the edge with my feet hanging off
as I looked over the city. This morning I did the same. (bottom picure)

As I’m looking over the city I think about the fact that this has all existed while I’ve
lived my life in the United States. It didn’t just appear here when I came. Then I think
about the fact that it actually has existed for thousands of years and my brain starts to
hurt a little. This culture I’ve been able to experience for the past three months is so
ancient. I love that they’ve allowed me to be apart of it for a short time.

In less interesting news….I’ve officially accomplished one task out of many! I know it
seems insignificant, but taking my pen to the paper, drawing a line to cross of my five page
Ancient Near East paper was a really, really good feeling. One down!....a lot more to go.
finals...bring it on.

Finals Week

 My life yesterday consisted of:
class
studying
eating
drinking water (2 liters baby!)
studying
ipod dance party to celebrate the leap year
study

It is a very good thing it is raining outside. Otherwise I'd be tempted to do other things besides study, eat, and drink water. All I need to do is push through these next 48 hours and then it's party time in Turkey!

Welome to midterms.

Here is whats up with my mind and studying..
If it doesn't involve concepts or numbers I probably won't understand it.
As fascinating as these subjects that I'm learning about are, I have the hardest time organizing everything in my brain. No matter how hard I study or focus in class...everything I learn turns into spaghetti in my mind.

Thats not to say I don't love the subjects; it's just to say I'm seriously struggling with learning them.
Plus...it's tricky business trying to stay in the Jerusalem center and study when I have exploring to do.

With that said, everything about midterms boiled up inside me to the point of craziness today. Yeah, I went crazy. Meaning I had to leave class because I was laughing for no reason and had to wipe the tears from off my cheeks in the bathroom.

Better to explode through humor than through tears of stress though, right?

We "took a relax moment"(yes, Meredith...quoting the hot chocolate machine)
and sung our little hearts out as Sterling jammed some keys.

Distractions

sometimes I sit down to do my homework

...distracted
So half an hour later i try again
...distracted
So I decide to go home where there are less things to get in the way of studying
...distracted
So I close my laptop and start reading out of my text book
...works
But then my next assignment is online
...distracted

Things that distract me
facebook
roommates partying/talking/laughing in the kitchen
blog surfing
eating
shopping online
boys
music
things going on in my hall
etc...

things I could be doing if I wasn't so "distracted"
homework
writing my brother/friends on their missions
writing in my journal
exercising
going to the temple
cooking something great
educating my mind on current issues
catching up with old friends
family time
reading in my scriptures
sleeping
organizing my closet
etc...
