Going back

Last year I spent the summer interning in DC. Not only did I fall in love with the capitol, but I fell in
love with Virginia. I love the fireflies flying around the millions of trees. I love my running trail that ran
along the Potomac river and I love the grocery store I went to three times a week.

I get to go back tomorrow for just 4 days. I'll be going to this to explore the world of accounting. I'm
going all by myself so it's a good thing I know my way around :)

xTax Champions

Last year's winning team (the two on the left were on my team this year)

If you would have told my dietetic-major self one year ago that I’d be apart of a national championship accounting team I would have laughed in your face. Hard. At the time—not only was I planning on being a dietician—but I was dreading my accounting 200 class. Plus—bless my heart—I’m a terrible public speaker.

Last October I competed in an accounting competition because I wanted to do something that would take me out of my comfort zone and knew it would help me with getting into the BYU accounting program. My team and I spent loooong hours in the Tanner Building. I memorized and practiced my presentation so many times I think my roommates almost went crazy. I finally felt like I was contributing at BYU and could hold my own against all of the other overachievers at my university.

My team ended up winning at BYU. A month-in-a-half later we discovered that our team was chosen as one of the national finalists. Which meant a free trip to DC come January (let me tell you, DC has a special place in my heart . I interned there last summer). Except too bad for the SJ because I’d be in Jerusalem during the championship in January.  I was super bumbed about it, but then realized :how lucky of a person am I if my hardest trial at the time is having to pick between the better of two options? I had to decide between the two and I picked Jerusalem. Hands down I picked Jerusalem. But I felt sick about deserting my team like that.

Yesterday I found out that my xtax team won at nationals. It killed me that I wasn’t able to be with them. It was similar to the feeling you’d get if your sports team won a championship game, but you were injured and couldn’t play. Want to know something though? Jerusalem is worth it. I AM super proud of my teammates though. The fact that they managed to pull that off with four people is amazing.

Good job Douglas, Jeashua, Cameron, Jessica, and Professor Barrick! Thanks for letting me be a part of the team and teaching me so much!

finished

GUYS!
I finished! I'm done with the most important semester I've had thus far.
I'm sitting on my bed--in my moved-out room--with the weirdest feeling. Is it weird that I miss school? I feel like I've been in a relationship with school for the past four months and we just broke up. I miss it a little bit. yeah, Harold, I miss you. (for those of you that are Aggies, Harold is the name of the BYU library). I won't coming be back to campus next semester due to the fact that I will be in JERUSALEM.

(It hasn't hit me yet.)

It's amazing how much taking classes that actually interest you will make you like school more. I've found my love and I'm sticking to it! Speaking of accounting, my Xtax team made it to nationals in DC. yes, I get to go back to the place I grew to love over the summer.

I was walking home from the testing center today, after I had taken my last test, and I had an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for this past semester. It was a gift from heaven. Everything from my roommates, fhe brothers, classes, family, experiences, ward, xtax, friends...everything was a precious gift that I am extremely grateful for. I am really going to miss my Lafayette 18 girls.

Merry Christmas!

life is like a chocolate mint brownie with pork in it.

Life is going by to fast.
I don't want to grow up.
I don't want to pick a major.
I don't want my friends to leave me.
I don't want to leave my friends.
I have no idea what to do with the next five years of my life.

Life needs to speed up.
Lets zip through this whole college experience and get on with it.
I want to be an accountant.
I want all my friends to go on adventures
I want adventures of my own.
I still have no idea what to do with the next five years of my life.

dyaccounting

Last year I decided I wanted to be a dietitian. I'm always fascinated by food and I'd like to help educate people on the best things to put in our bodies...or help people with a special need (like diabetes) know the proper things to be eating for their condition.

For some strange reason accounting 200 is a required class if you want to become a dietitian. Don't ask me why...they are completely different.

So I'm taking this accounting class and doing really well/liking it a lot. hm.....maybe I won't be a dietitian...
